No More NSF Fees
Members of Self-Help Federal Credit Union will no longer be charged a fee for non-sufficient funds (NSF), effective Tuesday, March 1, 2022.
Prior to the change, an NSF fee would be charged when your Self-Help Federal account fell short of the funds needed to cover a payment or any other withdrawal from the account.
Overdraft Coverage
Self-Help Federal members are eligible for overdraft coverage at no cost. Our overdraft coverage is not overdraft “protection” or so-called “courtesy pay,” which are essentially loans that can be costly to you. Instead, our overdraft coverage is simply a linked account or loan that you choose – savings, money market, personal line of credit or home equity line of credit that we transfer funds from to cover checks and ACHs (automatic drafts).
Personal Finance Resources
Self-Help Federal members are also eligible for free financial capability training through our branches and through a third-party partner. This benefit can be helpful to if you’re a member who wants to be better equipped to meet various personal financial management challenges. Many of our branches are served by Financial Capability coaches. We also partner with GreenPath, which is a nationwide provider of free financial education resources. At Self-Help Federal Credit Union we routinely evaluate our products and services in an effort to keep pace with an ever-changing marketplace and to better meet the needs of all our members. We will continue to keep our mission at the forefront of everything we do.
To all of our members: We greatly appreciate you for choosing us as your financial services provider.
